Yes, they're real! These are the bunnies responsible for this collection, the Royals, aka Princess Lilibet and Prince Pillow, in their home, Bunningham Palace.
Prince Pillow came first, adopted from the shelter. I wasn't sure if I wanted a bunny, but I stalked the website for weeks, and he was still there. I called to ask about him and they said he had a pin in his leg and walked funny. There are so many rabbits at the shelter, people could adopt a bunny without a medical issue, so they passed on him. Welp, that sealed it, he was coming home with me. He thinks he's a cat but has no balance, so he climbs things and falls off (probably how he ended up with a pin in his leg). His nickname is Bad Bunny, so if you don't hear anything for a while you better check to see what he's up to!
After a couple of months I thought Pillow might need a friend that isn't a human. I went to the shelter website and recognized Lilibet as a bunny that was available two months before when I adopted Pillow, and she was still there. I called the shelter again to ask why. Did you know bunnies with red eyes are euthanized the most, because they are associated with evil? Say what?! So, I adopted her, too. She's calm and sleepy, but if they both get the zoomies, watch out!
I'll answer questions I always get about them. If you are interested, please adopt from a shelter. They are the third most surrendered animal, after dogs and cats, especially right after Easter.
They are litterbox trained.
They are free roam in the house when I'm home.
They are in a 4ft x 6ft kennel in the house when I'm not.
They eat hay, unlimited hay. Hay all day. They loves the hay.
Mine don't snuggle. They're royals and they are above snuggling.
They are terrified of being picked up.
They love if you get on the floor and play with them.
They aren't "starter pets"
They are silent except for pitter patters of tiny feet.
They will definitely chew things if left unattended.
They give kisses (for treats).
Their favorite toy is a cardboard box.
