Have you ever wondered how to deal with menstrual waste while camping? 🏕
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Menstrual cups are ideal for camping or backpacking, because they’re reusable, create less waste, and don’t need to be changed every few hours like pads and tampons.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We've got a few tips for you to make camping with Aunt Flo a breeze!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tip 1: Make sure you sanitize. You’ll want to make sure your cup is sanitized (swipe for some great options for this!) before you head out on your adventure, and make sure your hands are clean and sanitized before you remove your cup to empty it. You can sanitize your hands with some water from your water bottle and a little soap, or with some Pixie Wash and water.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tip 2: When you empty your cup, dig a 6-8 inch cathole that is at least 200 feet from a water source. Empty the fluid from your cup into the hole, and use water from your bottle to rinse your cup. When you are finished, replace extra dirt in the hole, and disguise the area with leaves or brush. (Swipe to see a super fun illustration by @ajtheillustrator about how to do this!)

Tip 3: Sanitize your cup after your period. If your camping trip lasts longer than your period, make sure you sanitize your cup thoroughly before packing it away. Boiling is a great way to do this, but our UV Sterilizer is lightweight, compact and battery-powered, making it an ideal way to sanitize your cup while you're in the woods or at the lake.
