❣️Periods. Half the population get them, yet it’s such a taboo to speak of. Women hesitantly ask other women if they have a spare tampon because an early friend arrived suddenly and unexpectedly. I know I breathe a sigh of relief when I suddenly have my period and look under the sink to see a fresh pack of tampons and pads that I just HAPPENED to remember to buy right after my last visit from Mother Nature. But could you imagine having to choose between food and having feminine hygiene products every month? I sure couldn’t, and I shutter at the thought of going a full week without pads, tampons or a menstrual cup to help. But for 40 million women around the world, this a monthly struggle. So next time you donate to your local shelter, don’t forget some pads, tampons or even a menstruation cup. It’s often over looked and largely missed. •
