19 years ago today. I hope you take a moment to remember that day, remember where you were, how you felt, and how this city rebuilt in the weeks, months and years after. I clearly remember, my last year of high school in Canada watching the second tower hit on live TV, my father had woken me up in a panic as my sister lived in NY attending F.I.T. I remember those hours we spent trying to reach her - cell towers down, busy signals.. and how grateful we were to finally hear her voice. Many were not so lucky. I’ve heard some incredible stories over the years from people who worked in the towers and survived running down 100 flights of stairs despite ppl telling them to stay put. I remember visiting the city in the months after and the ash still floating through the air of the financial district. The fence surrounding the ruble covered with missing person signs, flowers and final farewell notes to loved ones. I’ve always loved how they saved part of that fence and decorated it with artistic tiles the children made in honor of the people lost, still displayed on Greenwich Avenue where you used to clearly see the towers looking down 7th Avenue. Thinking of all those who lost loved ones, all the brave fighters to rushed into the building, and all of the families broken on that day. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 #neverforget
