This is what working out looks like (or often doesn’t) for me these days. The past few months, my joints have been particularly susceptible to hyperextension and I have been injuring myself left and right. My shoulders keep dislocating (you can see my right shoulder wanting to pop out in the first picture for NO REASON!), and I hurt my knee by stepping down hyperextended at least twice a week. When I do work out, it means walking on the treadmill with my new knee braces (which have been helping a lot actually), or— more often— using my pvolve ball in bed as I watch tv. What I’m here to say is— that’s ok! I have learned to trust my body and not push myself when I know injury is right around the corner. In the past, these periods of easy-injury have gotten me so down on myself and my body. I push myself too hard, injure myself worse, and then have to be “out of the gym” even longer. I am doing my best to exercise more. I am hoping to start PT again next year for the first time since my childhood. I just started wearing my Apple Watch again to encourage myself to get my 30mins of movement a day! BUT— and it’s a big “but”— I TRUST MY BODY ENOUGH TO LISTEN WHEN IT TELLS ME IT’S FRAGILE RIGHT NOW! Here’s hoping that these 15 minute in-bed-butt-workouts turn into 15 minute runs, then eventually into 30 minute yoga sessions and so on. For now, working on getting movement in where I can & staying safe 💪🏼💪🏼 listen to your body!! • • • • • #fodmap #lowfodmap #fodmapfriendly #fodmapfree #fodmapdiet #fodmapliving #fodmaps #lowfodmaprecipe #fodmapper #fodmapsafe #lowfodmapdiet #glutenfree #glutenfreerecipes #glutenfreefoods #glutenfreeeats #ibs #ibsdiet #ibsfriendly #invisibleillness #mcas #mastcellactivationsyndrome #pots #potssyndrome #chronicillness #dysautonomia
