3 months after passing on my Miss Montana USA title, I cried, a lot. I felt like everyone had their lives together and I was falling behind. . . I took a pause to figure out the source of those thoughts, because their effects were crippling. I realized that I needed to take a step back from social media. I got caught up measuring my journey to others. . . When you see people “living their best life” on social media, it’s easy to feel like you’re behind. But, I realized that there’s more to each post, and that you might be comparing the beginning of your journey to the middle of theirs. You’re doing yourself a disservice if your happiness is conditional, if it depends on how you measure up to someone else. . . Have faith in your own journey. Know that where you are right now, is exactly where you are supposed to be. And if necessary, dial back on your social media use. Make sure you’e on these platforms for a purpose, not just to idealize someone else’s life.
