Dearest Friends & Colleagues - My first experience with Nepal was in 1997. When a close Italian friend of mine gave me an original pashmina, the one with knotted fringes, I immediately researched and found a vendor in Nepal who was making them. Having recently closed my knitwear company and at loose ends, I promptly got in touch with him. Sight unseen I ordered the pashminas and sent him $10,000. Three months later, with many phone calls in between, four huge boxes arrived just in time for Christmas selling. They sold out in two weeks.
For those who have known me since then, I became the pashmina queen. I sold more than 10k of these gorgeous items the following year and traveled several times to Nepal.
Today we still work with this same vendor, and since we cannot reach him, we hope and pray that he and his family are safe.
Nepal is a country with a very sad and violent past - a country that has gone through a lot of suffering. I ask you to open your hearts and wallets to donate any amount to the lovely and kind people of this nation.
