Sharing some wisdom I gleaned from a podcast last week. It’s been weighing on my heart and maybe it can help you on this Monday. .
“At some point on Instagram, even the people who are showing their reality and being vulnerable, at some point what we see is untrue because it’s a perceived reality. You cannot share all of life on social media. Thus, we can’t expect to see the true reality of someone else, it’s just not possible.”
.
“I need to relentlessly pursue what is TRUE. To wake up everyday and live grateful for the things I have and see what is true rather than believing the lie that what I have isn’t enough.”
.
Both these quotes are pulled from a nancyray on contentment. That episode really convicted me and made me realize that my source of discontent and need to fill that hole with things comes from an unhealthy relationship with social media. And by unhealthy I just mean that I’ve looked to it for more than just a way to connect with others and gather inspiration. I’ve used it to fill a hole and fuel discontentment in where I’m at right now instead of choosing to be content in this season with what I have. Contentment is a choice. Not something you arrive at when you get the thing you want. I can be content even if I haven’t “arrived” or even if I never do. Contentment is found when I’m grateful for what God has apportioned in this season and for this assignment. Contentment is found when I rest in the Lord and trust that he is all that I need.
