For a long time I always expected other people‘s habits to make up for my lack of discipline. I rarely (if ever) recycled and was overusing single use plastics like water bottles and ziplock bags. I never saw an issue with it and hoped other people’s sustainable habits would make up the difference for me. But that’s not the right thinking, is it?
Living a more conscious life really just means being aware of what the choice you’ve made ultimately means. Since the start of my journey, I’ve spent hours researching the impact of fast fashion, single use straws, plastics bags and it makes me sad to think that in the past I really didn’t care. But now and know and understand how my choice can make a difference!
Think of the impact we could make if each of us played our part in this greater movement. Think of the things that could be done when everyone makes a small change versus a small few people making big changes. Not saying those big changes aren’t important, but we all have a different place to start and that’s ok!
One of the things I asked for at Christmas time were reusable stasherbag bags and reusable tumblers. One of my goals this year is to cut down on my consumption of single use plastic because I see now the impact that makes on our planet. It never needs to be a big step. It can be something as small as choosing paper instead of plastic bags at the store. Think small to make a big impact!
