Indigenous friendships are built on mutual respect and reciprocity. When I met navajomandi in person, I knew that shared mutual values, which was a huge relief. We didn’t have to discuss respecting the earth because we already shared that value. We didn’t have to talk about women as leaders because we already shared that value. We didn’t need to explain our rez jokes, or our love for homes. Surround yourself with those who speak out. Who know and respect their indigenous values, or be someone who can help educate them. Indigenous friendships are 💪🏽💪🏽empowering.
