“Shout out to all the girls out there trying to LOVE themselves in a world constantly telling them not to.” Sometimes it’s overwhelming hoping that the positivity and love you’ve put into your children will be enough to fortify them against the ugly lies the world is working so hard to teach them. I battled with the world HARD for self esteem with it’s distortions and expectations for beauty, worth, relevance, eating disorders and relentless peer pressure when I was growing up...and I didn’t have social media and YouTube depicting “magazine-perfect” teens and LIVES all in my face like they do now. Perfection is so overwhelming for the youth these days. And I wanna punch it in the face. I hope I can teach them that all they need to worry about is perfecting being THEMSELVES and “perfecting” loving themselves, the Lord and others. The Lord’s love is PERFECT. We could all use a reminder that we are worth a PERFECT love. He loves us WHERE we are, HOW we are and WHO we are. The same at our worst as at our best. Why is it so hard for us to do the same?! These girls sang in church today and that wasn’t even the highlight.
