I’m here to tell you two things: fairytales do exist. And no, you should never have to settle. ⠀

By fairytale, I don’t mean perfection, but I do mean that... even after 9 years of knowing this man, he still gives me butterflies. And it’s all about the little things for me. Like when he gives me the night off and gives the kids a bath. Or gives up the last cold coke in the fridge. Sure he’s surprised me with my favorite purses and jewelry, but over time I’ve noticed that those aren’t the things that made us - us. It’s the late night talks about our dreams. It’s how we can comfortably sit in silence, totally in tune with each other’s feelings. It’s him taking my hand and suggesting that we pray. It’s even the moments that he drives me insane. All of those things are things I wouldn’t trade for anything. ⠀

You see, marriage can most certainly be a fairytale. But that does make it easy. It takes work and commitment. It takes patience. But man, am I glad I didn’t settle...⠀
