A little update on how the floral industry has been trampled on the last year and what that means for Poppy and Peppy. đ
â¨Flower Supplyâ¨
One year ago, a year we are all way too familiar with, did not fail to affect even the floral industry. Along with most of the world, many florists and floral suppliers shut down as well as flower growers who either shut down or pared back on production volumes. We are still dealing with the consequences of those decisions and the supply of flowers is not as certain as it used to be.
â¨Logistic Holdupâ¨
Supply chains and logistic companies were directly effected by Covid as well. There has been an increased demand to cargo airplanes for freight since passenger airlines were drastically reduced in availability. This has driven up the demand for space and reduced it drastically which in turn has driven up the cost of shipping. On top of that, trucking companies have had a drastic increase in driver demand because of the spike in e-commerce over the last year. So all that to say, getting flowers to where they need to be is hard and expensive.
â¨Increased Flower Demandâ¨
This is the great part! This last year has given flowers an increase in desire and we couldn't be happier about that. Flowers really do bring light and joy in the midst of drastic circumstances, however, because they are so wanted, and in light of the above results, the demand is higher than the supply.
â¨What this means for Poppy and Peppy is an increase in prices, but no compromise on design. I know Iâm guilty of using unique and luxe blooms (probably too many of them đ) but I canât steer away from bringing you the most gorgeous blooms and design. There might not be as many blooms as Youâre used to in each bouquet, but it will still be just a gorgeous! So thank you for your continued support, purchases and understanding!
