Dear Dads… Take her picture. Because what will flood through her brain, once she sees it, is a reminder of why she matters. She isn’t invisible. She isn’t just “____’s Mom” or “____’s Wife”. She has her very own dreams making her heart beat fast. She had to lose herself for a little bit, while having your children, and slowly but surely, she’s coming back to some sort of a baseline of who SHE is. Through infertility, or pregnancy, or giving birth, or adopting, or postpartum, slowly but surely, those moments etched away pieces of her. At one point she thought she was just broken. But what each missing piece revealed was a truer version of herself, underneath. Those harsh laugh lines were from being in awe of your children, or belly-laughing at another one of your terrible jokes. That soft belly stretched, carried, and birthed a human being. When you’re not looking, she stares in the mirror, reminding herself for the zillionth time “If I’d just do a couple core exercises, it wouldn’t be so jiggly.” Let her catch you staring at her, and remind her how beautiful she is. It silences the lies much faster than any other person, post, blog, or fitness magazine could. That’s how powerful you can be, to her. When she cries, let her break. Then scoop her up, and remind her that the world is a way more beautiful place because SHE’s there. When she’s strong, confident, and successful, scoop her face into your hands, kiss her on the forehead, and tell her “I’m so proud of you, babe. You’re doing so well.” But most importantly, take her picture. Sincerely, A Mom who needed to have this picture. It’s a stamp in time. A moment where I was so completely exhausted that I just wanted to snuggle my baby. I breathed in the hard work that I’d done. I exhaled the fears of tomorrow. And in the meantime, Mark took my picture. 🌻 TAG someone who needs to read this. 🥰 #choosejoy #speaklife #keepmarching . . . #motherhood #mother #motherhoodrising #risenmotherhood #momlife #mommy #mommyandme #motherhoodunplugged #motherhoodquotes #momtruth #mom #momlife #postpartumbody #pregnancy
