words can be a funny thing sometimes. they can be powerful, beautiful, messy, uplifting, clarifying, and even confusing.
and words have been a big point of wrestling in my own life for this past season.
many feelings have risen in my heart as i have remained in what feels like a wilderness of prolonged waiting. during this time i became aware of the disconnect i felt between choosing to trust in what was spoken, and yet no fruit of it showing in my life.
having now with sat on both the mountain tops and in valleys of this past season, i speak with restored hope that believing in the word of the Lord isn't in vain.
the fact of the matter is when trust is misplaced in a word rather than the One who spoke the word and made the promise, we have no steady footing or foundation, because only the Lord is perfectly faithful.
His promise is that no word of His will return void. but as rain that gives seed to the sower and bread to the water, so shall His word be.
now it may not come in the way i thought or in the time and place i expected, but it WILL succeed in its purpose.
His words will always be the rain for the seeds being sown in our lives. they are the very things that cause a barren land to sprout vineyards and a harvest.
and it will make a name, a name for our God.
a sign everlasting that will never be cut off.
as the earth springs forth sprout from the seed,
what is sown in the garden will grow into a mighty tree.
it will not return void.
so dare to hope.
all i have is soil and a seed.
it's not much, but it's all i need.
what i plant today, there will be a harvest.
when all i see is barren ground, i trust in your promise.
no matter the outcome, i know this is true:
whether it's feast or famine, plenty or barren,
my harvest is You.
