Hi! It’s Salima - Founder of @samara, which was named after my younger sister Samara, who joined me on this mission to make the world better through fashion.
Samara and I both grew up in Kenya and currently live in Canada. It’s now been almost 4 years of this journey and it’s been the wildest ride. We’ve grown, we’ve learnt, we’ve laughed and we’ve cried. But the one constant and the best part of this journey has been you - our community. You’re the reason SAMARA is here.
When SAMARA was started in December 2017, we had just lost our mom. She was the kindest, most beautiful person we ever knew. She was gentle, but powerful; kind but strong. In retrospect, starting SAMARA was our way of finding purpose through the biggest loss we had ever experienced, and it’s given us an even bigger sense of purpose and responsibility to try and make the world better, just like she did every single day she lived.
Now, as we turn 4, we’ve grown and we’ve gone from selling our first 25 products to having our products in the hands of over 175000 people. The SAMARA team is made up of 10 amazing women, some part time, some full time. To those of you who have chosen to shop SAMARA, to gift SAMARA to someone you love, or to come on this journey with us to make the world better through fashion, our entire team is beyond grateful for you.
