Last week was a big week for us because we launched a whole new product line.
When I started SAMARA 2.5 years ago, it was because I wanted a simple, elegant, cruelty free bag and I couldn’t find one that I liked. I started SAMARA with $500 and a production run of 10 bags, which you got so excited about and which we sold overnight. My goal with SAMARA has always been to create positive social impact in the world through fashion, and specifically to provide light through an initiative I started before - @thesoularbackpack.
Over the past 2.5 years, we’ve also realized the devastating effects of the fashion industry and our responsibility as a brand to keep pushing the dial in the right direction.
The launch of our sunnies, our loungewear, and a few other products launching this year represent growth, but that growth isn’t because we want to sell more stuff. It’s because we are committed to finding materials that are innovative and that provide better options for you. When we launch something new, it’s either because you’ve asked for it or because we’ve found a material that is pretty cool. Better materials, with incredible stories behind them. We are always looking for ways to make the world better and to truly challenge our idea of what things have previously been made from and the footprint they may have - that is why we exist.
We could not have made it to this point without all of you being on this journey with us. Our evolution as a brand is constant and is because of you. Every day we question what to pursue and how to be better. You inspire us every second of every day. Your texts, your emails, your comments and your messages keep our fire alive, and now, we’re not just a bag brand.
Thank you for being on this journey with me 💫 - Salima
