There’s No Planet B, so we’re standing fiercely with the climate strike today. As we reflect on the past and the future, we’d like to share a few things we’re doing to ensure we’re playing our part in taking care of our home. - Our Materials: Ever since we started SAMARA a year and a half ago, we wanted to be 100% cruelty free. The creation of leather and its tanning process takes away lives and livelihoods. The leather industry is also one of the biggest pollutants to the environment. This is why we decided to be 100% vegan. Vegan leather today is made from PVC, which is high in chemicals and also pollutes the environment tremendously. PU is slightly better. We never use PVC. But that’s not enough. - Plant Based Materials: We’ve experimented with other plant based materials to create our own version of vegan leather. Our Apple leather is made from the leftovers of the juicing industry! We mix it with a bit of PU that acts as a binding agent and we’re working hard to bring more materials like these to you. We’re not perfect yet, but we’re doing our best to create the best materials and bring you beautifully designed products. - Our Factories: We work with factories that are conscious of their production processes and their effects on the environment. We personally visit each factory every year to ensure they treat their employees with kindness and that all health and safety regulations are met.
