Hi! My name is Salima and I’m the Founder of SAMARA. I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a bit about our story. Exactly a year ago today, when I was 24, I lost my mom, who was everything to me. She was truly and in every way the most beautiful person I knew. I started SAMARA late last year as a way to channel the things she taught me, the beauty she embodied through simplicity and the resilience she showed us during her last few months. In 6 months, we’ve been able to grow a little, hired an incredible customer happiness rep and have over 2,000 customers. We have over 20,000 of you following us on Instagram and have been able to spread some light in the world through @thesoularbackpack. The reason for this post is solely to tell you that I’m so aware that there are millions of accounts you could be following, millions of brands and places you can buy bags from, and yet, you choose to be here. I don’t take this lightly. This means more to me than you can imagine, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for being on this journey with me. I’m so grateful and so excited to keep building a brand, alongside a community like you, that creates impact, makes the world better, makes people happy and has a tribe of individuals like yourselves who are a part of our story.
SAMARA is named after my sister, and I chose to do this because my siblings are the biggest part of my mom in this world. Hopefully, her legacy will live on through the things we do.
