Sustainability is closely linked to locally made products for a number of reasons, including the hugely reduced carbon footprint attached to items whose inputs have not travelled the world over to reach us. For designer Merci Me, supporting the Made in Britain movement is a crucial one, offering opportunities for employment in a declining sector of the UK economy - there are approximately 150 thousand people employed in the UK textile manufacturing industry today, one sixth compared to about 30 years ago. ?
