In 2007 I organised a fundraising event in Sierra Leone (Freetown) and came face to face with some of the real victims of conflict diamonds. If you haven't watched 'Cry Freetown' give it a watch but you have to have stomach for it. Since then, knowing where precious stones come from has always been important to me. I love jewels that sparkle, but knowing where the stones come from is almost more important than how beautiful they might be. Earlier this year we worked with @Swarovski - and a woman who inspires me greatly @Nadja.Swarovski - on their Created Diamond collection (the brand partnered with the UN on these pieces) for @RedCarpetGreenDress - it was a dream come true for me in many ways.

The stones were not mined, but created in laboratories in California and Germany, and of the same chemical composition as classical diamonds. 100% carbon, and with a similar hardness and brilliance to mined diamonds, the Created Diamonds have just impacted the environment considerably less. They are also beautiful pieces! At the Oscars earlier this year we were proud to see both @EmmaRoberts and @PriyankaBose20 wearing pieces from the exclusive collection for us.
