Going from hanging 5 to hanging 10 is a multi-faceted, intricate maneuver that requires the right amount of speed, board placement, foot placement, core balance, and acute timing. The board has to be pushed down on the tail by the wave in order to create the fulcrum balance for you to perch on the nose, so being close to the pocket, in the steep part of the wave is where the most critical and available hang 10 spots are available. Center weight is over the back leg while hanging 5, but then switches to the front leg as the backfoot joins the other with all toes over the nose. It’s a process!
