It’s #SeeaTipTimeTuesday .The Cross-step turn is a functional maneuver that allows you to redirect the board while the legs are crossed. Holding a cross-step looks beautiful, showing control and ability to maintain center of balance as the board shifts under the feet. To turn the board while cross-stepping, put most of your weight of the back foot (actually your front foot because feet are crossed) and either on your toes or your heals depending on which direction you need to go. If you feel the board isn’t tipping on rail, then edge your feet closer to the inside rail. Remember, you can direct your (long)board from the middle, just utilize your feet being closer to the rail in order to engage the turn.
Cross stepping is all about core. Imagine a cord attached to the top of your head pulling up. With cross-stepping, an upright posture helps maintain balance.
