‘Engaging the rail’ is super important on a longboard, especially in steep sections and in the pocket. When you’re up in the middle or nose area of the board, having the inside rail engaged in the wave helps the board maintain both speed and stability. If the feet aren’t close enough to the inside rail, it is easy to have the board sucked up with the force of the wave, or there will be less ability to control your speed in the pocket. Your back foot is your main rail engager- move it closer to whichever rail you're turning on to get the board connecting your weight to the wave under you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
