On most boards (especially longboards and mid lengths), there’s a sweet spot on the board that feels like it ‘glides’ best. Glide, in this case can mean “momentous flow, uninhibited by drag; a weightless feeling without needing to move the body”. Think Pelican.
Finding glide on a board is often near the center of the board. With your back foot closer to the inside rail, engage the rail into the wave by pushing your energy lightly more into your back foot. Take note of Sierra’s hips here, notice how her hips are engaged, from hips to core to shoulders she is upright. That posture all stems from the angle of the pelvis, tuck it forward to engage the core and open up more movement.
Play around with your foot placement to find the gliding zones on your board. Once you find the sweet spot, stand up straight (even lean back) and feel the glide!! #seeatiptimetuesday #seeababessurflesson
