To navigate her children through the journey of growing up, @alohanif and her husband (who is of Native Hawaiian ancestry) draw upon to the teachings of Hawaiian culture and the surroundings of their island home. As they paddle in their canoes, the tides, the stars, the currents, and the wind all become metaphors for teaching her daughter Rella about life’s important lessons.
