Cross Step Turn! This is a beautiful way to redirect your board because it utilizes the elegant look of a cross-step with the effect of turning the board at the same time. A few pointers to make this work... 1. be in the back third of the board - just like any other turn, the closer you are to the tail/the fin, the more torque you'll have in the turn - if you are too far forward on the board and attempt this, chances are you'll dig rail and tip over. 2. In a cross step turn, your front foot essentially becomes your back foot, so the closer you place the foot toward the inside rail, the easier it will be to get the board to tip on the rail and engage in the turn. 3. Don't be afraid to put your body weight into that temporary back foot - the more you drive the foot into the board, the more that rail will engage and direct the turn.
