#SeeaTipTimeTuesday Drop-knee Cutback ~ a stylish way to redirect a longboard, the drop-knee cutback has long been a technical trick utilized by longboarders because of the ability to turn the board without being on the tail of the board. Watch @roro.carolan here, as she steps back from the noseride, once she reaches the middle third of the board, she drops her back foot much further back than her previous steps. Then she drops her back knee down towards the board, engaging more pressure into her back foot to engage the turn. To do a drop-knee turn, your stance has to be a bit wider than normal to give space for the leg to bend. When you place your back foot for the turn, you’ll put most of the pressure on the ball of your foot (unless your ankles are super flexible, then you may be able to have the foot flat on the board for this!) As with most turns on a longboard, place your back foot towards the inside rail, instead of the middle, this will help tip the board on the rail and engage the turn. Also, keep your shoulders open, following the movement of the hips, try to have them work together as a single unit rather than separately.
