Taking the High Line ~ As a wave breaks, there’s a different amount of energy and speed available on different parts of the wave. On this clip, @brookeroy uses the ‘high line’ to set her speed up on the wave to noseride.
Usually, the highest parts of the wave have the most speed (at least in the pocket of the wave) because of the energy going up the face. For noseriding, it is easiest to use this high line as the place to crosswalk towards the nose- because it gives you good speed, but it also allows for more room underneath the nose of your board.
If you’re having trouble keeping up with the wave as it breaks, try using your bottom turn to project you towards the top of the wave and ride the high line. This will make you go faster! But it will likely be steeper as well, so you may have to use your feet positioning and body weight to lean more into the wave to engage the rail.
Have fun finding the speed on the wave! ✨
