#seeatiptimetuesday Plant your feet~ Keep your front foot planted to the board while you do a heel side turn. Many have a tendency to allow the toes and ball of the foot to come off the board, so that only the heel is touching through the turn. This happens because the front foot isn’t in the right spot for the turn, so the body compensates you correct balance, and the foot often leans up. Solve this by slightly inching your foot back towards the rail before engaging the turn. When our feet are firmly planted, we are able to push hard against them (a great turn is pushed through the turn, not just leaning through it, this is what makes a powerful turn). In order to powerfully turn, focus first on your foot placement. You’ll feel the difference of a turn with planted feet in the right place, as supposed to a turn where only your heel is touching on the front foot. Do your best to avoid this bad habit, pay attention to your feet when you turn! If you notice it, put time and concentration into moving your feet into better positions. Surfing is all about tiny adjustments of foot placement, weight distribution, muscle memory, and then creativity! Surfer: @shredsista Video: @jack_colemang Words: @leahloves
