Cross-step turn ~ @RosieJaffurs in her unique fashion uses her footwork to cutback into the wave. Watch on her second cutback, how she cross-steps back, but holds her (front) foot back on the board, and turns the board with it. This can be a useful and stylish technique to stay close to the power source of the wave. In order to cutback, we have to be close to the tail of the board. Rosie recognized that she was already far enough back on the board in her cross-step, so she was able to lean into her back foot (really her front foot, but her back while it is crossed). As she completes the cutback, she makes another quick cross-step to adjust her feet for a bottom turn.
