#seeatiptimetuesday Backside Cutback ~ here, Chelsea shows how to cutback into the power source (aka the heart) of the wave. On our backside (goofy going right, or regular going left) we use our toe-side rail to cut down the wave or back towards the white water. By shifting the weight of the backfoot into the toes (pushing through the back leg with strength) this will guide the board up onto the toe-side rail, allowing the board to turn. If you keep faceplanting when you try this maneuver, your feet are most-likely in the wrong spot and need to shift closer to the rail you’re turning onto. Surfing is all about constant foot adjustments and the weight/strength that we push into our feet with. The heart of the wave (where the white water meets the green/blue water) is the fastest part of the wave, so cutting back into it, especially on slower/mushier waves helps you stay on the wave and enjoy it the whole way 😘 Surfer: @chel.bythe.sea Video: @kaili_reynolds
