#SeeaTipTimeTuesday Find your grace ~ here, the Queen of Steeze @lolamignot shows two different styles of pop-ups that set her up perfectly for the noseride, as well as accentuating her graceful style. First wave, Lola utilizes a delayed pop-up in order to allow the wave to stand up a bit more before she starts her move. Notice how she brings both feet up together in this pop-up, with her feet landing in the middle part of the board. From there, she lightly steps her backfoot into a bottom turn, holds the backfoot there to stall the board until the wave steepens up for the noseride. This narrow stance pop-up can look very elegant, and usually only works on longboards or boards that have a bit of length. It’s easier on water than it is on land because the board is slopes downward with the wave, so practice on flat land to make it easier once you’re in the water. The second wave take off is a little different. Lola utilizes a fade (angles left and then bottom turns right to put herself in the premium spot of the pocket). She does a delayed pop-up again, gliding into the wave on her stomach, pressing up almost into a cobra-like pose. Once the wave forms up to her liking, she pops up smoothly right into her bottom turn, perfectly timed for her 4 steps to the nose from the middle of the board. Play with your pop-up, especially on longboards there’s a lot of room to place your feet in different places. Most importantly, find the balance, if the board is tipping when you stand up, likely your foot placement/weight distribution is off to the side. Utilize these delayed takeoffs if you catch the wave early, have extra glide, and need to wait for the wave to stand up a bit. Lola, can we download some of your grace?!
