#SeeaTipTimeTuesday; Making Momentum! There’s various ways to generate speed and momentum, but most commonly used is called a Pump. Pushing into the board (through our feet) can generate speed on a board. The more energy the rail feels into the wave, the more the board generates its own speed. This is called a Pump and it can be done in many different ways and styles. Here, Hallie uses her bodies extension (going from a low position and extending into an upright position) by pushing into the board with her feet to rise her body instead of using her balance to stand from crouch position to upward position. Foot placement matters big time with a Pump - ideally your front foot is in the general middle stringer zone. If your backfoot is too close to the rail on a pump, you might tip the board too much and lose control. Surfing is all about the acute details of your footwork and foot placement. So pay attention to where your feet are, especially if tipping over is a common issue!! Surfer: @haalliiee Video: @jimmyjazzjames Edit: @madisonisbell Words: @leahloves
