#seeatiptimetuesday Engage the Rail to Noseride!
One of the key elements to noseriding is making sure to engage the inside rail into the wave. In order to do this, correct foot placement is necessary— identify on this clip where Hallie placed her feet as she’s walking- her feet are not in the middle of the board, they are closer to the inside rail. This puts more pressure on the rail, pushing it into the wave, which in turn gives the board more stability. The closer you get to the nose, the more critical it becomes to have your feet in the right spot, or the board will easily slip out from under your feet.
Also, if the board feels like it continually is slipping away from the wave, even if your feet are closer to the rail, then it could also become a FIN factor!
Move the fin towards the tail for more hold and stability if the board keeps sweeping out from under your feet as you walk. If the fin is too far back, the board will be very Tracky and hard to turn.
There’s a sweet spot for every fin, fin shape, board shape, foot placement etc. Surfing is always an experiment so change things up, try a new fin or fin placement if things are working for you, and pay attention to your foot placement!!!
