☝️Fins first 🤩
~ River @rivercovey is so smooth ~ to begin, use your feet to correct direction when you paddle with the fin first. Your feet can be like rudders and can help you steer with just a little drag of the foot, but keep the leg engaged so not to throw you off balance and give you control over the motion. Once you’re up, there’s a wide variety of ways to approach the ride. Whether you start switch or end witch, or shove it, the board will spin once the fin engages with the water. Depending on the angle of the fin in the water, the board will spin either way. The goal is to anticipate and direct when the spin engages, as the motion can feel kind of like a whip.
Here, River starts a step from the middle, so he’s able to put more energy on the tail to keep the nose up. When he’s ready to engage the fin to spin, he steps to the middle (on finless boards too, middle zone is a good balance zone for spins).
Caution advised: This is a very advanced maneuver, not recommended for beginner to intermediate levels - - work towards it!
