5,10,5 ~ 👋🦶👃
Often times, long noserides as Rosie executes here, include a combination of both hang 5’s and hang 10’s. The timing of the hang 10’s are crucial. In simple terms, hang 5’s speed up the board, while hang 10’s are more of a stalling maneuver. So, in order to stay right in the pocket while on the nose, Rosie transitions back and forth from a 5 to 10 to 5 and so on. This is to maximize the length of the noseride while staying in the most critical part of the wave. This timing comes with lots of practice, and is dictated by the wave and it’s speed.
Like driving a car, you want to look where you are going on the wave, while briefly checking your mirrors, or glancing down at your feet. It’s best to not develop a habit of only looking at your feet as you’re going to the nose, as a good noseride comes with reading the wave as it changes in front of you.
