Switch it Up! ~ If you’ve ever tried going switch, chances are you’ve realized how difficult it is! Hallie is one of the very best at the Switch game, she makes it look like a cake walk! To start getting used to going switch, start slowly! Simply pivot on your front foot and bring your back foot into front foot position. This quick shift in weight and balance is a useful maneuver for setting glide through a section, and also feels really cool! Get used to just standing there in switch stance first before trying any type of maneuver or cross walking. I like to think of it as staring at my self in a mirror, and trying to flip my brain on what feels comfortable. If you are wanting to learn to go switch, start by the small step switch and then switching back to normal in order to move. It takes time getting our body used to the different feeling of having the opposite foot in front. Once standing in place becomes comfortable, then start working towards a switch cross step, which will open up the nose and tail maneuvers.
