Among the five nominations for the Best Actor in Academy Awards this year, Gary Oldman did a great job to depict how much love the greatest Prime Minister of the UK, Winston Churchill, was with wine. This most formidable man for Hitler drank every day. No matter it’s a glass of whisky or champagne, he would grab and drink. On the brink of collapse of the kingdom, wine was still the Prime Minister’s best friend.
His favorite brand of champagne was Pol Roger. 10 years after Churchill passed away, the winery created a series called “Sir Winston Churchill” to memorize this loyal customer. It is hard for us to imagine, at the age of uncertainties, how this hero Prime Minister lifted his glass of champagne while striving with the whole country to defend against the Nazi troops, at the tiny 10 Downing Street under the non-stop bombing in London.
