Celebrating #TitaniumTuesday with another #laserwelding video. This is a 20x magnification of the ‘butt weld’.. yes we laugh every time also. Here we are welding the two ends of the tube to complete the loop that is the cage. The tube wall is only 0.3mm thick..which is roughly equal to the thickness of 3 sheets of printer paper.. the weld is done as a double pass and without filler wire, the first root pass gives 100% penetration (we laugh at that also..) and the second brings a smooth low stress surface. For scale the weld diameter here is 2mm. #laser #titanium #welding
