After decades of petroleum based drip lubes (and a stint with straight teflon), decided to try the hot melt wax for the gravel rig. The sounds of grinding pasty nastiness after damp Iowa gravel routes finally pushed me toward hot melt wax. SILCA got the call and after the first few rides (including some wet ones) on a newly waxed drive train, I couldn’t be happier. Now all three of my whips have SILCA Secret Chain Blend hot melt wax treated chains. I use the SILCA wax drip lube for touch ups and do a complete boil/strip/re-hot wax every ~500 miles. Have some extra chains for the bikes ready to go so there is no down time when its time for a strip/re-wax. Not only does the SCB keep a quiet drive train in adverse weather, the cleanliness of the entire drive train is the cherry on the top. Never going back to petroleum based lubes EVER.
