Once you immersive wax your (properly and thoroughly cleaned chain) you’ll wonder why you waited so long! After first using Silca’s Super Secret Drip, I switched to the Hot Melt and it’s even better. Bike drivetrain is immaculate and clean to the touch, it’s smooth, silent and shifts easily. I’m by no means a “racer” or “marginal gains” chaser…..I’m looking for longevity and a clean drivetrain. I watched YouTube videos and read quite a bit on waxing (Silca’s, Zero Friction Cycling out of Australia and MSW seem to be the best resources), then just went for it. Yeah it’s time consuming (just at first), but re-waxing is a breeze ( I use Zero Friction’s method of just dipping an already waxed chain in the crockpot; unless it’s a extremely wet, dirty ride then clean chain with boiling water, dry it and into the crockpot). Anything worth doing is definitely worth doing right! Silca’s Hot Melt is definitely worth it! (Pics are of a chain with 150 miles on it.)
