We test our products extensively – in the process, we discover innovative ways to solve problems. Our hose rack is a great example. After about 15 test-brew days, we were frustrated that we had no place to put the hoses when they weren’t in use or when they were air drying after a brew day. We put our engineers, welders, fabricators and our CNC plasma table to work and by day’s end we had a solution welded to one of our prototype carts. Now the hose rack is a standard feature. It even includes a bottle opener! • This also brings up the question about hard piping vs hoses. We chose clear silicone brewery hoses as it avoids a complex valve tree meaning the system is both easier to clean and easier to operate. Other systems require opening/closing 6 valves in a particular order to get liquid to flow where you want. With the Spike Nano, a hose is placed from where the liquid is to where you want the liquid to go; easy. This allows anyone in your brewery to be able to operate the Nano without extensive training. The clear hoses also allows clear view of color and clarity during all steps of brewing! • Learn more about the new Nano by clicking the link in our profile.
