7874 feet or roughly 1.5 miles... That's how much filament we 3D printed as part of developing the Spike Brew Pump. Desktop 3D printing is a great way of visualizing your design in real life and not only seeing how something looks, feels and fits, but also conducting functional testing as well. This was especially useful for dialing in the usability and ARV performance. Once we got that dialed in, we invested in further techniques such as clear SLS prints (so we could see and visualize the water and air flow through the housing) and CNC machined parts to be able to run hot water and hot wort testing before our casting tools were ready for prime time. All-in-all, this was a fun and challenging engineering project and a great chance to use these development techniques to get you, the customer, the best performing product possible! So, let's give a big atta-boy to the unsung hero of our engineering department, Printy McPrintFace - who toiled away for hundreds of hours, nights and weekends for this project, while we were down at the bar drinking beer and dreaming up what we'd print next.
