We're back with a brand new Spike Recipe Spotlight that's perfect for cooler temps. The Brewer -I started homebrewing in 2018. My interest was piqued when I walked past a My PicoBrew. I thought it would be cool to be able to brew my own beer and Christmas was coming up! A friend of ours was a homebrewer and he offered to teach me—so I decided I would go with a more traditional way of brewing. -Christmas morning I came downstairs to a Mash and Boil with a FastFermenter. I brewed roughly 10 times on it and wanted to improve on consistency. I walked into another local homebrew store and saw they sold Spike. After researching I really wanted to try the Spike brand. The short story is I started with a Flex+ and now have a 20-gallon Solo System, CF5 and CF10 (both with the TC100 temp control system). The Beer -This Dry Irish Stout is noted by its roasted flavor from the barley addition. It is not overly bitter, but would call it a smooth, roasty mouthfeel. -My wife loves Guinness. I wasn't big on Stouts, but wanted to brew one for her. Now it always stays on tap! The Why -Add Irish Moss or Whirfloc with 10 minutes left in boil. Also cold crashed for 3 days after primary fermentation. @barbellz_n_bulletz 🍻
