When we set out to develop our own glycol chiller, we studied the market to see what was available -and maybe more importantly- what wasn't currently offered as a feature. From there, we procured every available chiller on the market so we could study them even closer. Our goal was to create a quiet yet powerful machine that looked great and is a great value. We really like this chart because it shows the range of actual cooling capacities—not overstated cooling capacities. You'll see a lot of our competitor's chillers come in at roughly the 2,300 BTU/hr mark. We found this to be the sweet spot for cooling 4 homebrewing sized fermenters. Anything more is overkill and anything less is going to struggle. While the Spike Glycol Chiller isn't the highest, that was intentional as we don't want to overpower the unit causing it to be more expensive and louder. Basically, we're right where we want to be.
