Stop motions are one of our favorite ways to create media at SSYS! We thought we’d show you how we do it, save this post for your own use later by clicking on the ribbon in the bottom right corner. This outfit is from Mallory’s Vegas collection dropping tomorrow morning @ 8am CST in the app✨
What you’ll need: all the items you’re wanting to include in your flatlay, a tripod and cradle for your phone, and a Bluetooth clicker (not necessary but it does make things easier😉)
Step one: style your flatlay exactly how you want it to look.
Step two: choose an item to make move, a great option is shoes! You can do more than one movement per flatlay. In the above stop motion we did an “outfit build” where all the items crawled on and off the page.
Step three: position your phone in the exact angle you want to capture the image, it’s important this never moves!
Step four: if you’ve chosen to make the shoes move, pick up one at a time and make them walk across the flatlay — TAKE A PICTURE BETWEEN EACH AND EVERY MOVEMENT!
Step five: apply the same edit and crop to each photo, we use adobe Lightroom for this!
Step six: import your edits into an app like Momento, upload them in the order in which you moved the items! Most apps will allow you to adjust the speed in which things move.
