REAL TALK: I haven’t always loved this body of mine. I haven’t always looked in the mirror and been kind, felt proud, or had confidence.

For a lot of my life, I wished that I saw someone different staring back at me — someone who looked different, or who didn’t have the same mistakes or scars or messy story. 💔

But today, I’m PROUD of the woman staring back at me in the mirror. Not perfect, but proud — strong, healthy, resilient, and confident in a body that has done incredible things:
👉🏼 It has carried me a hundred miles across the Himalayas 🏔;
👉🏼 it has walked me out the front door of a toxic marriage;
👉🏼 it has boarded a flight ✈️ to a new life on the other side of the planet;
👉🏼 it has done the workout even when I didn’t want to;
👉🏼 it’s been thrown from a bike, and after getting six metal screws drilled into my bone, got right back on 🛵;
👉🏼 it has loved people hard, been hurt deeply, and gotten back up to love & trust & hope all over again. ❤️

For the rest of my life, my weight will fluctuate, muscle strength will come and go, and I’ll find new stretch marks & wrinkles & cellulite on my body because that’s what women’s bodies do.

But you know what never has to change for me or you? Being PROUD of all your body has done for you. KNOWING your own strength. Feeling connected with yourself BENEATH your skin. COMMITTING to exercise & health as an expression of self-love, not punishment to fix something that’s “wrong.”

It’s NOT about perfection. 🙅🏽♀️ It’s about being stronger today than you were yesterday, and about allowing every challenge, heartache, and experience to build you up into a stronger tomorrow. 🙌🏼
