"For our AW22 Season Building upon the evolution of the Subtype Curated brand incorporating a heavy focus on materiality, articulated pattern cutting and experimental finishing. With an emphasis on developing the details of pieces such as, embroidery, prints, washes, dip dye, pocketing, textured fabrications. With the emphasis of the range being on the relationship between the body and garment through movement. Exploring “COUNTER-TECHNIQUE” is the way in which the dancer uses basic physical movements in performance or the ability to use fundamental physical movements effectively.
Subtype curated core reference points for the range, the influence of brutalism and modernism in the context of an ever-changing Australian landscape. The iconography of the “SCII” is to signify the second coming of the Subtype curated brand. Alongside this we are also introducing a drop shadow subtype motif, which will signal the contemporary direction the brand is undertaking. The elements of the splicing and gradient dip dye techniques are all a nod to the vissubtypecurated ion and direction of the brand. Having remnants of the “core” brand identity being immersed by a more experimental and design focused outlook on the horizon."
