I’ve been tripping with these ladies for over 20 years! My tips for a fun, easy, meaningful trip with your favorite friends:
-Plan for the same dates each year. This way everyone knows it’s coming and can either plan around it or know they’ll catch it next time!
-Plan a trip everyone can reasonably afford. It’s not fun to exclude friends because of money. But also…
-Do be prepared to spend a bit of money! This is perhaps not the time to practice your most frugal living and expect others to follow along.
-Make a grocery list ahead of time and plan on charcuterie for dinner the first night. This way you can spend the time visiting, instead of hustling to get ready. And you can have the leftovers for snacks all week!
-Pick a house with plenty of space. We’re too old to sleep on the floor, folks!
-Be considerate. Pitch in with things like dishes, laundry, and food prep (and thank the friends doing these things a lot!).
-Don’t over plan activities. The point is being together, so leave room for lots of taking it slow and chatting. But also…
-Do make a couple of dinner reservations. No one wants to spend 2 hours a day waiting!
-More than anything else, bring friends that you enjoy doing anything or absolutely nothing with for a few days. You really can’t go wrong if you get this part right!
